20/12/2011: I’ve changed the name of this page since it was receiving metric tonnes of spam from bots… apologies if you previously linked here but it was getting really silly.
This page will merely be a dumping ground for those things which are a result of one of my creative endevours yet defy classification into one of my other projects. Hence, a miscellaneous section of sorts.
This page may will rape your browser temporarily as it loads all of the images. There’s probably at least 10mb to load, after all. I apologise in advance for the inconvienience…

Nothing
Since lots of people seem to like this page, I’ll continually I might update it on a monthly basis with all the new stuff as it appears. It should be current as of the time of above listed update. The browser rape, as a result, will be even more extreme, but oh well.
If its not been updated recently due my laziness, you can find that newer stuff can be accessed by clicking the Artworks, Sketch or Wallpapers tags, or by checking out the pingbacks at the bottom of the page, which usually detect similar posts (not all of them, mind).
Wallpapers
As a result of excess time and excess skill with Adobe Photoshop, I often make my own Desktop wallpapers. I may as well post some them here. My main screen is a widescreen one, so I used to craft 1280 x 800 resolution (a surprisingly hard resolution to get walls for, in fact, so its perhaps fortuitious I make these). With the death of my old laptop and subsequent new monitor, newer wallpapers are still widescreen, but are a larger 1440 x 900. Both resolutions will work with any widescreen you have, so enjoy.

The Fire and Ice Special
Shana’s Fiery Circle: Since Shana used to grace Detarame’s main banner for over a year, you’d be correct in thinking she’s one of my favourite anime characters of all time. After all, she sort of started the recent loli tsundere trend that carried on with Louise, Nagi, Taiga etc. (most of these with the same voice actress, for extra immersion factor, LOL). She is of course famous for her obsession with Melon-pan and her penchant for saying ‘Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!’ (aka. ‘Shut Up! Shut Up! Shut Up!’).
Anyway, as for the wallpaper, I just had the idea to actually place her in a ring of fire after seeing that above picture of her sitting in the coat with Alastor. Adding Nietono no Shana (her sword) stuck in the ground in front slightly off camera also seemed to come naturally. After that, various masking effects were added, and eventually, the other image of her in flame haze form from the first artbook was added. Finally, this is a picture almost made for the ‘Blazed’ font. LOL.
White Snow Mage, Blanc Neige: She’s from Shining Tears (and Shining Wind, in an older, longer haired form) and is one of Tony Taka’s more famous character designs. She is the big blaster mage in that, obviously using a huge amount of ice against everything. Though I can’t actually comment on her effectiveness, since I’ve not actually played the game.
I guess this image has done plenty of rounds. I’m quite sure its been in several other wallpapers not made by me, which is why, I guess, it took such a while for me to get around to implementing it. That said, I did alot more touch-up on it than some may have done from the original. Most notably, her skin tone was made paler, the edges were slightly re-drawn and softened, and her cape was re-colourised slightly. The background ended up alot simpler than the Shana paper, but I thought that just the production art and snowflakes were sufficient. Again, this was a good chance to use my favourite icy font as well.
Shinobu-chan from Bakemonogatari:
I still maintain that Bakemonogatari was the best show of the Summer 2009 season. Great characters, actual plot development, and ye gads an actually satisfying ending (which is supreme rarity among at least 50% of anime, which seems to fizzle out or run out of time). Though Shinobu chan didn’t actually see much screentime, she was still a highly bemusing background presence. Awesome stuff.
Heroes and Heroines of Fate. As you might imagine, I decided to start playing through Fate Stay Night again. Much to my shock and amazement, its actually been nearly a year since I finished Heavens Feel for the first time and unlocked everything, but its been far longer since I played the Fate route. And of course, I’ve had a HD wipe and PC change since then as well.
Anyways, my recent playthrough of it inspired me to make a wallpaper! And this wallpaper manages to combine nearly all the main heroes and heroines! (and villians!). Though it looks a simple job, it actually wasn’t since each set of characters came in three’s and in order to get them all in there, I had to split them and redraw several missing parts. Avenger and Illya were especially a pain to place correctly and needed a fair bit of work. I gave Kirei some Black Keys as well for no real reason apart from the fact that I find them cool. The Melons, Excalibur and the crying Taiga by the text was a last second thought, but I think ended up a nice touch, especially since theres no image of Taiga in this style to use. I also decided to make Irisviel and Kiritsugu ghostly, for obvious reasons.
Edy Nelson, the silver haired wannabe starlet tsundere turned shock-trooper. She’s a minor character in Valkyria Chronicles. Well, sort of. Out of all the minor characters/recruitable units, I hear that she was actually popular enough for them to do an extra downloadable content mission featuring her in the game.
As for the wallpaper, yup, its a filmstrip theme one again, which is one of my favourite types of wallpaper to do, as you can cram alot of goodness into that sepia strip. I also enjoyed making the background as ‘watercolour’ like as possible without resorting to photoshop filters too much. Despite the beach scene being a fairly stock photo, I think I managed to make it decent and make it seem like the sitting Edy is fairly well matched to it as the background piece. Various parts of the filmstrip are caps from the OP and ED of the anime, by the way.
Toraiga vs. Doragon! Yessiree, its another ToraDora wall. Whilst its slightly old news, I found the three panel colour manga about Taiga and Ryuji sharing Pocky on the left and thought it was so mind-numbingly cute and awesome that I HAD to do something with it.
I also combined it with another couple of my favourite cute Taiga X Ryuji pictures to make this, and despite the fact that it was a fairly quick job that only took a half hour or so, I’m still pretty happy with the result. Just looking at it makes me continually go “Awwww!”. I think the Palmtop Tiger and Chibi Dragon censoring really makes that strip, doesn’t it?
K-ON Summer I’ve made yet another widescreen wallpaper to commemorate the wonderful, wicked heat of summer, K-ON style. Enjoy!
Is it too chockablock full of fanservice? Probably. But that’s surely part of the appeal, right? I’m quite pleased about the work that went into this. I created the Background from Mio’s image as a basis. It also required several extra masks for the sunlight. Not to mention I basically had to re-build the top part of Yui, as well as changing Asuza’s arm and hair since they got in the way. Mugi is disturbingly lovely in this picture of her, I have to say. I also spent awhile on getting the font right. Its supposed to look as if Yui carved it into the wall before conking out.
Because I was apparently bored, I decided to convert my Alicia Sketch into a widescreen wallpaper for my own amusement. Which I’ll share with everyone as well, so here you go:
Just in case you decide you need a Desirable Drakahn for your Desktop. Go alliteration!
Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever actually used one of my sketches for a wallpaper before, so this is a first. Yay! Or something.
I always wanted to do a Satsuki wallpaper; but never actually ever seemed to get around to it…until just now. She always had my support as Tsukihime’s ‘forgotten heroine’, though its plausible she’ll make her way into the remake (when it comes around) at bequest of the fans.
In this case, her right hand bloodlust version got alot of subtle edits. I’m particularily pleased with the glowing eyes.
I guess its ‘another vampire, another blood moon’ scenario from my perspective, but oh well, its still pretty cool. As always, click the picture to get the full sized wallpaper.
Don’t Forget to Save Electricity! Well, Index was of course an awesome show in general, but to me, Mikoto (also known as Railgun Girl or Biribiri or Shocker) was obviously the real star to me. She’s just awesome. I won’t continue because I’ll fall into oozing fanboy mode, and that won’t be pretty.
The above quote will make sense to you if you saw the DVD bonus, Index-tan. Which is obviously a piss-take of the show, but more fundamentally is also a pisstake of Shana-tan (and the fact that the same studio made both awesome shows).
Lilly Pendragon from Suikoden III. I haven’t actually played Suikoden III (I’ve only played number 1 on the PSX, and the new one for DS, Tierkries) but when searching for artwork of the games, I pulled up this wonderful profile artwork of her, and thought it looked totally awesome.
Then I altered her slightly in Photoshop (made her smile! yeah!), and put her into this lovely background from that talented guy at Digital Blasphemy (Long ago, I used to be subscribed to that site. Something which I highly recommend if you like lovely 3d renders on your desktop, especially of cool space-scenes! Long ago, before I started making my own stuff, I always had his stuff instead!). And I was in love. Naturally, this is my current Wallpaper. Its epic and lovely at the same time.
1280 x 800 Wallpapers
Evangeline, from Negima, that lovely uber-vampire and Negi’s Master and teacher of the dark side of magic. I felt obliged to create it after reading the latest manga chapter where she seems to re-appear again. Though I realise Evangeline herself is actually not associated with the Blood Moon (thats Arcrueid from Tsukihime), but I was just playing around with the vector I had and thought it looked sweet in deep red, and hence the blood moon came naturally into the equation. I also cocked up the ratio on this one slightly, for some reason. This one’s actually a 1280 x 768. Put it on Stretch mode if that bothers you. Still looks fine, I do it.
Alice Margatroid from Touhou, the mistress of dolls, sometimes known as the seven coloured puppeteer. Which I’ve taken literally in this design (LOL).
Tenshi Hinanawa from Touhou. Its a fairly simplistic shopalicious modification of a nice vector I found of her; with the intent of making her look more ‘ablaze’ if you will. Touhou fans seem to see her as a crazy masochist, so I had to do something with her in (LOL). This is apparently because she has battle taunts in one game that are like ‘Yes! You must punish me or the world will suffer!”. She also decides “I’m bored as a goddess, so lets take my family heirloom Hisui Sword and go and cause some earthquakes and stuff, ya…” Gotta love that personality.
The Palmtop Taiga: My latest, showcasing my Toradora obession of late. Taiga is made of win and awesome and tsundere and stripes.
Luviageletia Edelfelt: She’s an ultra-minor character from Fate/Stay Night, but they decided to make her playable in the recent FSN beat-em-up spinoff, Fate Unlimited Codes. She’s Rin’s self proclaimed rival from the clocktower. And she hilariously combines wrestling with thaumaturgy. 0_o
Anya Alstriem, The Knight of Six: That awesome apathetic loli noble and mecha pilot extraordinairre with the pink hair from Code Geass R2. Whom is of course bagged by Jeremiah in the end. Loli GET!
Allison & Lillia: I really enjoyed Allison and Lillia. It was epic, romantic and heartwarming series all at the same time. Not to mention its rare to see a series cover two generations of characters. And those conspiracies were fabulous. Super detective Will + Dense Allison combo always made me chuckle, not to mention the Fiona x Benedict affair; and Lillia constantly beating the crap out of Trieze (and apparently inhereting her fathers faulty dating chromosome).

Artworks of Mine
Ellen, Sister of the Chosen One
As always, click it for the full size one
Well, Ellen is also from Romancing SaGa 3. I thought Monica might be lonely by herself, LOL.
Anyways, Ellen usually makes it into my party since I absolutely adore having a decent user of the martial arts moves. The throws (especially Niagara Buster) do ludicrous amounts of damage against minions, though they sometimes fail against bosses (not really a surprise if the boss fills the screen and a 20 pixel tall character tries to throw them. Its most impressive when it actually works though!). And…I can’t bring myself to like Boston as an alternative. Its just kinda…odd…for a giant humanoid lobster to be doing martial arts. So more often than not, Ellen ends up staying. She is based upon this image:
I guess some liberties were taken in the conversion this time since I chopped off her sleeves and made the jeans into denim shorts with wooly bits. Her hair is also central rather than parting to her left side. But then, as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, not alot of details are immediately inherent in a sprite upscale, which is why I like doing them.
Nevertheless, I guess she also looks a bit like a kung-fu Risa (from my own game, The Enemy Within)!
So I Married an Axe Murdering Princess!?
Truth to be told, I got a bit sad looking at my recent glorified sketch of Carlie, then whilst looking back at the old Carlie sketch, I came across the sketch of Princess Monica from the same time. I then decided that I needed to update our lovely princess of Lohanne with and grace her with an additional sketch to match our favourite half-elf cleric.
Monica, by default, is set up to be Rapier wielding Scholar type princess character. And, if you recruit her as an extra, (or she’s forced upon you, if Julian is your main character) shes not that amazing, as Fat Robin is probably a better Rapier user. Though her Charisma is the highest by default, making her a good Moon Magic user, I guess.
Of course, by making her as a main, I customised her to be a high strength axe-weilding maniac. Something which, given the right stat layout, actually makes her a very brutal melee-fighter and pretty useful (as Black, the only other decent axe user, has to tag along in a terrible inferior form called Hermann for a while before getting an upgrade).
Hence, this sketch is based upon that version of Princess Monica.
She’s meant to be in a ‘about to swing’ type pose, which I think turned out fairly well. Her outfit has changed marginally since the last iteration (you can see the old version near the bottom of this page). The main additions being the open-back fingerless gloves (I thought they looked good during the draft stage), and her bike shorts for underwear. Well the latter is not strictly an addition (I hope!) …its just you couldn’t see her undies before, lol. As usual, her outfit is jammed pack full of trim and embellishments which I enjoyed adding, and it is fitting that she, being a princess, probably would find this to be part of a generic travelling outfit.
I was a little concerned that the head of axe turned out a little small. It looks a bit less meaty compared to the old one she used to have. But then, its probably more combat practical as a result, lol.
Grown-up Ilyasviel von Einzbern
Yessiree, it’s everyones favourite psycho albino Mage loli given a trip in the ageification device.
Or, at least, its what Taiga imagines her to be, given five extra years.
I think I just became inspired to do this after looking at the previous Carlie sketch and then making the mistake of browsing Wakachans Type Moon board (which I have kept away from until just recently) and thinking, ‘why not do that with Ilya, eh?’. Well, specifically, I laughed after seeing this image:
What if Ilya’s servant Beserker was not Hercules, but rather, it was Satsuki!
Its a match made in heaven!
Team of the lost and forgotten TYPE-MOON heroines! Ladies of the deleted route! I salute you!
I especially wanted to do the whole ‘what’cha doin’ Onii-chan’ pose with the whole tilted forward, head pulled slightly back thing going on, as if peeking mischeveously. It maintains her childlike demeanour despite her adult-ified features. Adding the roaring Taiga into the background was actually a last second decision, but I thought it would fit, and was quite pleased with it (I don’t usually do over-exaggerated faces!). Of course, I kept her usual outfit, as changing it might make it seem more like I was drawing her mum, Irisviel. And yes, as you might imagine, I used the above image for reference on her outfit, though I omitted the frills from her skirt.
Grown- up Carlie Returns!
I thought she deserved a newer, better sketch. (The older one can be found on near the bottom of this page, as its pretty old). I’m especially impressed with this rendition of her, though I’m using the prior costume I made for her rather than inventing something wholly new again.
As I explained before, Seiken Densetsu III is one of my all time favourites because of its most excellent party creation system and 4 pronged class change possibilities. And of course, I quite often pick Carlie for my teams, though in the game, she looks much younger. She is actually 15 in the game, but being a half elf, this means she actually looks like a 10 year old. This version of her is my rendition of how she would appear at, oh, around about 24, though I toned down the puffiness of her hair in favour of curly/wavy.
The Blades of Lagaard
This time, I did some renditions of two of the Six Blades of Lagaard. These are sentient artifact weapons from my 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons campaign, and they’re shamelessly named after famous weapons. Well, at least in part. They take their nicknames typically as an extract from a famous weapon, too. Amusingly, there are also actually seven weapons in the set that makes up the Six Blades of Lagaard.
Anyway, first of all, here’s Kana, the Never-Ending Cycle Blade:
Whew, thats the first coloured sketch I’ve done in a LONG time, actually. But in her case, its neccessary to express her different parts. As you might have guessed if you’ve played Fate/Stay Night, Kana’s shortswords form somewhat resemble Archer’s twin swords, Kanchou and Byakuya, from that game. And yes, her full name is actually Kanachou. Of course, my version is somewhat different. Her prime form, the centre one, is actually a Double-Bladed Sword, but she can split into two blades as required by her user. This makes the forms on the left and right. She can also switch between sword and humanoid as required. She’s obviously called the Neverending Cycle blade, and likes her Yin-Yang symbols as a result.
The blades actually correlate to her clothing and features. The blades are her wings, and such like. You should also be able to see how the two forms combine to create the combo form (though no idea why she suddenly gains knee-socks!). I spent a fair while doing her design. Sadly, because of a recent change of my circumstances, this game has been temporarily stalled, and so she was only wielded by our Necrist Paladin of Augustus for about 4 sessions.
And secondly, we have Cali, Sword of Promised Victory:
To go the other way, the Cali sketch didn’t even get any shading. But I was so impressed with how she looked in just the line-art stage, I didn’t want to ruin it or anything. She IS a young girl, with the physical age of around 10 when in humanoid form. And she’s probably a bit more famous if you add a prefix and suffix to her name.
…
Did you get it? How about Ex and Bur? ExCaliBur?
Heh…my players were in giggles when they realised for the first time. Especially since its not just physical age. She acts like a spoilt rude brat that loves mischief. And yet…she’s a mighty weapon with staggering power. She can also eat other bladed weapons to take their characteristics. After which she belches like a pig and sneezes out a sphere containing her previous qualites. Lovely.
She’s a longsword, and has no funky transformations like Kana. Our Swordmage found her hanging upside down in a tree one session. In her first battle, she cleaved a horse in half and leapt between bandits, slashing their heads off, like the crazed psycho (yet somehow cute) little lass she is. She really set the precidence for amusing Sentient Weapons.
She’s not really inspired by F/SN this time, I just took the ‘Sword of Promised Victory’ title from there. Much like Kana, you can see how her features correlate to her blade design (the top hat is on the pommel, spiked designs on the cape, the ponytail is there, and so on).
Also, though you wouldn’t think it, she’s actually about 540 years old (and is Kana’s older sister!).
The Lagaard family, by and the way, consists of:
Aeb, Duran, Cali, Kana, Loch, Yumi and Ettie.
Which correspond to:
Gae Bolg (Greatspear), Durandal (Greatsword), Excalibur (Longsword), Kanachou (Shortswords/Double Sword), Lochaber (Battle Axe), Yumiyawata (Great-Bow), and Ettard (Bastard Sword/Katana).
Cecelia, my Pokemon Battle Revolution Trainer
Cecelia, my Pokemon Trainer from Pokemon Battle Revolution.
I’ve had her lying around in my pad for awhile now and haven’t actually got around to scanning her in. I seem to like picnic scenes, huh?
The original concept of this had a shameless insertion of myself lying on her lap. ROFL.
And yeah, I’m well aware the trees look rubbish. Foiliage has never been a strong point of mine. You might have fathomed that my drawing skills originated on the technical side (with 3d objects, especially), and then eventually branched into the development of my anime style.
Luna, the Tide Witch
Luna/Runa, the Tide Witch, from the DS game Luminous Arc 2.
There’s alot of water in this picture, for good reason. She’s naturally obsessed with it in the game, and often goes swirly eyed if she doesn’t get a nice drink after a battle, which I found amusing.
I’ve liked the game so far, but the voice samples promptly got switched off. They were seriously annoying (especially Rena screaming ‘Super Sniper Rena!’ in battle…god I wanted to slap her voice actress for that travesty…). I also LOL’ed that Roland in this game constantly had girls coming up to him shouting ‘Lets get engaged!’, in the context of giving him magical power (oh yeah?). Also, no one notices when his HAIR turns Silver and his outfit changes. Come on guys, get some spectacles already!
Heh, well, I still need to finish the game. Looks like I’m going for an Althea ending. I’m dissapointed I can’t have a Luna (or Karen) ending, however…
Deneb Zeltretch
Deneb Zeltretch, my most recent D&D character, Witch of the Star Pact extrordinairre.
I had several sketches of her head and shoulders, but never actually went and did the full whammy until yesterday (at work, LOL). Her character is based upon the girl of the same name from Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (hence the pumpkin obsession), but with several alterations.
Also, I especially enjoyed doing the background to this one. Check out the bookshelf. Some quality stuff there…that hardly seems like the kind of reading material a good witch would have…LOL…
Lillia Schultz
(from Allison & Lillia):
Yup, I’ve ended up returning to my old cliche theme of lasses on beds. Seems I have more skill for those than standing up poses, at least, ha. This is also a sketch of some clothing firsts. As in; its actually the first time I’ve tried to do a wooly jumper; and the first chequered skirt. I think they both turned out pretty good. Though Lillia-chan seems to favour tartan skirts most of the time, I don’t think my version counts as detailed enough to be considered a proper tartan skirt, so I’ll get away with calling it chequered instead, hehe.
Anyway, ye-gads she’s ultra-cute, ne? Its one of those time I really wish I was better at actually colouring my work (as a general rule of thumb, my work ends up much worse when coloured, so I stick to just using my plain 4H and B pencils most of the time).
My inspiration for the sketch, if you’re interested, was this screencap from the show itself. She does this ‘nani? nani? what is it? tell me? I’m listening!’ thing in first Ikstova episode that bowled me over from its epic cute factor. This is based on that, though with alot of modifications (pose, clothing etc.)
————————————-
Princess Monica from Romancing SaGa 3:
Whom, yes, in one of my games, I set up to be uber strong and use axes. I found this to be pretty funny since her default combination is a Scholar who uses a Rapier. Romancing SaGa 3 is one of those interesting games you can play several times since it is technically open-ended with what you can do (similar to what I’d like to achieve in my own game, The Enemy Within); not to mention select a favourite party of characters and customise your starter. I’ve also (in my new game) had a Monica whom is a Kung-Fu fighter since I wanted to do a run-through that didn’t involve me using Ellen.
This Monica sketch was drawn from this amazingly small reference picture:
So yeah. I like doing sketches based on sprites since they give you absurd amounts of artistic licence to do whatever you like for the details. Which I did, in this case. I gave her lots of trim; she’s a noble and would have fine travelling clothes, I figure. And of course, my version is strong, so its normal for her to heft a heavy battleaxe over her shoulder one handed. Hehe.
Yeah, then we have a grown up version of Carlie-chan from Seiken Densetsu III:
Carlie-chan is awesome. She’s a half-elf, and is 15 in the game. Of course, in half-elf terms, this means she’s basically a little kid of about 9 in appearance. So I guess the above version is her at…26, maybe?
She’s an awesome healer in the game, with her basically insta-cast, multi-targeting healing light. And she has a couple of hilarious ultimate BA attacks. My favourite is the amusingly titled ‘HugeHuge’, which has her throwing her flail up into air, and having it fall back down again at about 10x the size for her to use. She does so (somehow) and causes a giant explosion.
Seiken Densetsu III has long been one of my favourite SNES games because of the fantastic class change system which gives each of the six potential main characters lots of choice for progression. Creating a good party with synergy with one another is pretty cool.
Though I guess, in some ways its pretty disturbing for Carlie-chan, since you can subvert this cute little girl to the powers of darkness and make her into a little girl necromancer or evil shaman (!). If you do so, of course, she gets the abilities to either breath demon fire/summon devils or raise the dead/curse people. Her light side versions are much more supportive, making her not only the premium healer, but also an amazing disher of saber buffs and beams of light.
This Carlie chan was again based upon a sprite. This one, in fact:
This is from my most recent SD3 game, which actually has me using light side Carlie for a change (making her into a Light Sage for the uber lasers). She has blonde hair and blue robes by default, by and the by, but the class changes impart pallette swaps on the characters. Her hair looks puffy in the games, but I just altered it to a kind of semi-wavy/curly for my sketch.
————————————-
My Tsukihime Ending Reactions:
This was inspired by a stick figure drawing with similar content from Wakachans /tm/ board.
Poor Sacchin. She still hasn’t got an ending… And Akiha really needs a more pleasant one…
————————————-
Hecate, Princess of Tessaltoria:
Well, this is old hat for those of you whom came here from RMXP.org; but for everyone else:
This is Hecate, the Princess of Tessaltoria (one of the kingdoms from my game, The Enemy Within). She’s a tad bit Tsundere, to say the least; and though we have cliche princess rescue scenario, it turns on its head as she ends up saving the party. Though you can’t tell from the sketch, she has turquiose hair, by and the by.
Err, yeah, I should put that on the Enemy Within page, shouldn’t I? Oops… oh well, it is an Artwork, so it does fit here too…

Nice piece of facts that you’ve got in this website submit. Hope I can get some much more of this stuff on your weblog. I’ll occur back.
